Jay Roach Takes On Wife Swap Baseball Film

Jay Roach will call action on the 1970's-set baseball player wife-swapping pic"The Trade" says Variety.

The project, in the works since February 2910 follows two New York Yankees pitchers who caused a national scandal by swapping wives back in the sexually-liberated period. Baseball teammates Fritz Peterson and Mike Kekich stunned the country when they disclosed in spring training 1973 that they were trading wives. Peterson had fallen in love with Susanne Kekich and his teammate fell in love with Marilyn.

Matt Damon was eyeing the film as his directorial debut, but that didn't work out.

Casey Affleck wrote the most recent draft of the script, that was originally written by David Mandel.

Damon, Jennifer Todd and Ben Affleck are still on board as producers, but will not be acting here.

The life long pals are the ones that kept the project going-- convincng Roach to take the gig.
