Based on the book by Pete Dexter, the story follows a Miami Times reporter who returns to his hometown in Florida to cover the imprisonment of a death row inmate accused of murdering a local sheriff.
There's no information on who will play what character in the film yet.
The great Pedro Almodovar ("Broken Embraces" "Volver") has spent more than a decade developing this adaptation with Dexter — but now Lee Daniels has come on to direct He will most likely stay on as a producer with Hilary Shor.
A Summer shoot is expected.
