The first photos from the upcoming found-footage disaster
movie "Into the Storm" are here.
The script by John Swetnam follows
multiple characters who are brought together in small-town Oklahoma who must confront intense tornado activity.
Prison Break and The Walking Dead's Sarah Wayne Callies plays a
meteorologist gathering data close-up tornado observation who has
teamed up with a storm chaser (Matt Walsh) intent on getting the
ultimate shot. Richard Armitage plays an assistant school principal who goes from overseeing a
graduation ceremony to frantically trying to find his missing son.
Nathan Kress, Arlen Escarpeta, Jeremy Sumpter, Kyle Davis and Jon Reep also star.
Steve Quale ("Final Destination 5") called the shots--he is also known for his work as James Cameron's visual effects supervisor and second unit director on "Avatar" and "Titanic".
Todd Garner will produce the film.
Quale tells USA Today
that the film showcases a bunch of different tornadoes from small
unpredictable ones to giant wedge ones to even fire tornadoes. One
sequence sees 747s being lifted right off an airport's tarmac by a
massive funnel.
"Into the Storm" is set for an August 8th 2014 release.
The first trailer for the film drops later this week.
