"Suffragette" Rounds Out Its Cast With Cameras Set To Roll

Ben Whishaw and Brendan Gleeson are set to join the women’s rights drama “Suffragette" says Screen Daily.


Originally titled Suffragettes, the drama will be an ensemble piece highlighting key figures from the Women's suffrage movement. The story centers on Maude (Carey Mulligan), a young woman who becomes engrossed in the early feminist movement, turning to violent acts to bring about more change.

Helena Bonham Carter, Romola Garai, Anne-Marie Duff, Samuel West and Meryl Streep also star in the film.

Sarah Gavron is directing from a script by Abi Morgan, who wrote The Iron Lady which starred Streep.

Faye Ward and Alison Owen are producing the film.

Cameron McCracken, Tessa Ross and Katherine Butler will executive produce.

Production starts Monday in the UK
