Even though the official green light still hasn't been given a May 29th 2015 release date is set and production is slated to start this summer.
Lucas Till ("X-Men: First Class") and Jane Levy ("Suburgatory") are being eyed for the lead roles in the potential franchise launcher, though no formal offers have been made yet. If they do agree to star Till would play a bad boy with a good heart, Levy would play a character said to resemble a "high school version of Tina Fey".
Dylan Minnette and Nick Robinson were also previously linked for roles but have since committed to other projects.
Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger ("Kung Fu Panda") will pen the script from which Chris Wedge ("Ice Age") is set to direct.
