Another Trio Joins Allman Bio With Cameras Rolling Next Week

THR reports Charles Dutton, Kathy Baker and Aldis Hodge have all joined the music biopic Midnight Rider: The Gregg Allman Story.


A film adaptation of Gregg Allman's memoir "My Cross to Bear" The All-American Rejects singer Tyson Ritter and Wyatt Russell will play The Allman Brothers The duo will perform vocals, guitar, piano and organ throughout the film about the Southern rock group who hit it big in the 1960s and 1970s, as it dealt with numerous tragedies.

Dutton will play Chank Middleton, Gregg’s best friend, confidant and assistant while Hodge is  playing a younger version of the man. Baker is playing the Allmans’ mother.

Chad Lindberg will play the real-life roadie Joseph “Red Dog” Campbell. He died in 2011 William Hurt will play the present-day version of Gregg Allman.  Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV Series alum Eliza Dushku will play a small town Southern girl who inspires the song "Whipping Post." Bradley Whitford will play Allman's current manager Michael Lehman and Joel David Moore will play manager Bill McEuen, who discovered the brothers and brought them to Los Angeles.

Randall Miller is calling action using a script he wrote with Jody Savin.

Miller and Savin will also produce the pic.

Production will begin Feb. 24 in Savannah, Ga., at Meddin Studios
