John McTiernan Returns With "Red Squad"

Marking his first film following his release later this month from federal prison, filmmaker John McTiernan will call the shots on the action thriller "Red Squad" says Variety.

Cam Cannon and Jorge Suarez wrote the script which centers on a former DEA agent with a rogue streak and his select team of mercenaries who descend upon a Mexican border town to neutralize a drug lord.

 Richard Rionda Del Castro is producing the film with Michael Mendelsohn.

Production is slated to begin this spring in Alabama.

McTiernan is known for directing such blockbusters as “Predator,” “Die Hard,” and “The Hunt for Red October,”as well as “Die Hard With A Vengeance,” “The 13th Warrior,” and “The Thomas Crown Affair”remake
