Lutz And Locke In Mo-Cap "Tarzan"

Kellan Lutz and Spencer Locke will star in the Motion Capture 3-D film re-imagining of "Tarzan" says Heat Vision.

The pic is the latest adaptatation of author Edgar Rice Burroughs' classic jungle hero. In this version Tarzan’s parents are billionaire adventurers who are killed in an airplane crash. Jane Porter meanwhile is the daughter of an African guide and committed to conservation of the African jungle. She eventually works with Tarzan to defeat the mercenary army of Greystoke Energies led by the film's villain - the CEO that took over the company after the death of Tarzan's parents.

Reinhard Klooss and Holger Tappe will direct using a script penned by Klooss, Yoni Brenner and Jessica Postigo.

Kloos and Robert Kulzer will produce the pic.

Mo-Cap is slowly growing on me after watching The Adventures of Tintin and  Rise of the Planet of the Apes and being wowed by what can be done, if handled in the right way

Spidey Trailer #3: "Seems A Bit Excessive..."

The third theatrical trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man has been spun on the Web (sorry for that--I couldn't resist)....

This one puts the focus on the disappearance of Peter Parker's parents Richard (Campbell Scott) and Mary (Embeth Davidtz) and the villain of the reboot--with a bit of daring doo mixed in...I must say I was quite impressed with the some of the angles/action that I saw here

Andrew Garfield Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen Chris Zylka Emma Stone Denis Leary and Sally Field star.

The script penned by James Vanderbilt and Alvin Sargent sees the wall crawler take on the Lizard (Ifans) Marc Webb called action.

Weekend Box Office Preview: Avengers Take The World By Storm

The Summer Movie Season Starts NOW--with the U.S. debut of writer/director Joss Whedon's The Avengers movie...The Superhero Team Up is getting GREAT reviews from critics--Save for maybe A.O. Scott opinion--No worries though S.H.I.E.L.D honcho Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) has that situation under control...

Disney and Marvel Studios' The Avengers rolls out in North America at midnight Thursday after amassing a record-breaking $281.1 million at the foreign box office in only a week.

The Avengers, which unites key Marvel superhero characters, is widely predicted to clear $150 million in its domestic debut; just how much more is up for debate. All agree it will kick off the summer season in style.

Overseas, the Joss Whedon-directed tentpole has already earned more than the total lifetime gross for Iron Man ($267 million), Thor ($268 million) and Captain America: The First Avenger ($192 million). It should eclipse Iron Man 2 ($311.5) by Saturday at the latest.

Avengers should finish the weekend with a whopping global haul of at least $550 million, considering it's also launching in Russia and China.

In North America, the movie is outpacing all previous Marvel films -- including the Spider-Man franchise -- in terms of advance ticket sales, as well as last year's Transformers: Dark of the Moon, according to online ticketing service Fandango.

Spider-Man 3, debuting on the same weekend in 2007, opened to $151.1 million (then the biggest debut of all time domestically).

In terms of weekend records, only three other films have hit $150 million or more after Spider-Man -- this year's The Hunger Games ($152.5 million), The Dark Knight ($158.4 million) and crownholder Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 ($169.2 million).

Fandango predicts that Avengers will become one of the top advance ticket-sellers of the year, and reports that 1,000 shows are already sold out.

Rival MovieTickets.com also is reporting brisk business for Avengers. More than 47 of presales are for 3D tickets, while 22 percent of presales are for IMAX 3D runs.

Plans are afoot to see The Avengers within the next few days.....As soon as I do...My review will be posted ASAP...

Biehn Leads Treachery

Michael Biehn, Jennifer Blanc, Sarah Butler, Caitlin Keats, Chris Meyer and Matthew Ziff  will all star in the thriller " Treachery" says Heat Vision.

The pic was written and will be directed by Travis Romero.

Biehn plays a man reunited with his estranged son at a remote wedding party. When a storm strands the party, ugly truths are revealed. 

Biehn, Blanc, Paul Foley, Ryan Azevedo and Kate Rees Davies will produce the pic.

Production kicks off in Los Angeles in June.

Pattinson & Pearce Drive The "Rover"

Robert Pattinson and Guy Pearce will star in the thriller "The Rover" says Deadline.

Set in the near-future, the story centers on Reynolds, a man navigating the Australian outback in search of those who stole his car.

"Animal Kingdom" helmer David Michôd is writing the script, from an idea he and Kingdom actor Joel Edgerton ("Warrior," "The Thing") conceived. Michod will also direct.

David Linde and Liz Watts will produce the pic

Production is expected to kick off later this year in Australia.

Heard, Bichir, Join Machete Sequel

Amber Heard will play a manipulative assassin codenamed Miss San Antonio in Robert Rodriguez's upcoming sequel "Machete Kills" says Variety.

In the sequel to the 2009 action flick "Machete", the next film in a planned trilogy, finds Machete (Danny Trejo) recruited by the U.S. Government to battle his way through Mexico to take down a madman cartel leader and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer (Mel Gibson) who have hatched a plan to spread war across the planet with a weapon in space.

Meatime Mexican actor and Oscar nominee Demian Bichir is also in talks to join "Kills" as well as William Friedkin's indie thriller "Trapped" says Variety.

Bichir's role in 'Machete' is under wraps.

Jessica Alba and Michelle Rodriguez are reprising their respective roles as Sartana and Luz from the first Machete.

Kyle Ward wrote the script.

Bekmambetov Charts "Curren War"?

Director Timur Bekmambetov has acquired the true story drama "The Current War" says Heat Vision.

Playwright Michael Mitnick wrote the script about the public battle between pioneers Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse to develop electricity and bring it to the world. Both men went to extraordinary lengths to ensure their system was the one that was adopted.

The film is intended to be a directing vehicle for Bekmambetov assuming that he can fit it into his busy schedule.

5 More Jump Into Open Grave

Thomas Kretschmann, Josie Ho, Joseph Morgan, Erin Richards and Max Wrottesley are all set to join the new horror thriller "Open Grave" says Screen Daily.

Quartet Are What They Are

Riley Keough, Julia Garner, Bill Sage and Wyatt Russell have all joined the cast of the "We Are What We Are" says Screen Daily.

Keough and Garner to play two sisters in the Catskills region in New York State who, after the death of their mother, are forced into cannibalism by their father (Sage) as part of family tradition.

Russell will play a young deputy in love with Keough’s character.

 "Stake Land" director Jim Mickle’s will call action from a script he wrote with  Nick Damici.

The project is being described as a “re-imagination” of Mexican director Jorge Michel Grau‘s Somo Lo Que Hay

Rodrigo Bellott, Andrew Corkin, Jack Turner and Nicholas Shumaker will produce the pic

Production takes place from May 29th to early July in the Catskills.

An early 2013 release is planned.

Kate del Castillo Is "Good" Girl

Mexican actress beauty Kate del Castillo has joined the cast of the thriller "No Good Deed" says The Hollywood Reporter.

The story follows a former District Attorney-turned-stay-at-home mom (Taraji P. Henson) and her two small children who are terrorized and kidnapped from their home when she invites a good-looking mysterious stranger (Idris Elba) in to wait for help after his car ran off the road.

Del Castillo will play the stranger's cheating ex-fiancee.

Sam Miller, who is best known for having directed episodes of the BBC Series Spooks and the Elba-led "Luther", is calling the shots using a script by Aimee Lagos.

Will Packer and Lee Clay will produce the pic.

Favreau Will Act In "Thief"

Actor/director Jon Favreau has joined Seth Gordon's comedy "Identity Thief" says Variety.

The story centers on a woman (Melissa McCarthy) who steals another man’s identity (Jason Bateman).

Favreau will play Bateman's boss.

Garry Ross Takes On Houdini

Gary Ross is in talks to direct "The Secret Life of Houdini" says Heat Vision.

An adaptation of William Kalush and Larry Sloman's 2006 biography of famed illusionist, Harry Houdini which posited that he acted as a spy for Britain and was asked to be an adviser to Czar Nicholas II in prerevolutionary Russia. The book also portrayed the master escape artist and magician as a debunker of con artists who pretended to be spiritualists, leading to the controversial theory that Houdini's death was caused by the spiritual movement as payback.

Noah Oppenheim wrote the most recent draft.

The film hopes to be a period action thriller tentpole ala Guy Ritchie's "Sherlock Holmes".

Post Twilight Rob Hunts Saddam Hussein

Robert Pattinson is attached to star in director Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire's true story psychological thriller "Mission: Black List" says The Hollywood Reporter.

Pattinson would play Army interrogator Eric Maddox--the man who spearheaded the capture of Saddam Hussein by playing a key role in pinpointing his hideout.

The film is being adapted by "Band of Brothers" writer/producer Erik Jendresen and is based upon Maddox and Davin Seay's book.

Jendresen Ross M. Dinerstein, and Kevin Waller, are producing.

Even The Avengers Gotta Eat (Minor Spoilers)

Although it opens tomorrow in the states, writer/director Joss Whedon's The Avengers movie--its global box-office tally is already over the $260 million mark, and by end of Sunday-- it's expected to be somewhere close to the $600 million mark Similarly the film is accounting for a whopping 94% of sales on U.S. according to online ticket service Fandango.

One thing U.S. viewers will get to see before the overseas patrons is a reported second post-credits sequence.

Superhero Hype has confirmed the scene comes at the end of the credits. There's even an what appears to be a description in their forums - that ties in to some of Tony Stark's (Robert Downey Jr.) dialogue in the film.

The scene shows the six Avengers (an unarmored Tony Stark, Captain America, the non-Hulk'ed out Bruce Banner, Hawkeye, Black Widow and still-in-his-costume Thor) sitting down in a Manhattan restaurant and eating shawarma in a post-victory group dinner. No dialogue is spoken by the heroes; instead, they're too busy eating to chit-chat.

 

A photo of the scene has leaked online and does confirm the content- the six characters sitting around a table at a smashed up fast food joint munching down on doner kebabs.

This adds to the a mid-credits sequence which sets up the villain for the sequel and was part of the global release for the film.

Bentley, Others Join Chavez Biopic

Wes Bentley, Michael Cudlitz Jacob Vargas, Yancey Arias, and Mark Moses have all joined the cast of the indie biopic "Chavez reports Variety.

The film follows Cesar E. Chavez (Michael Pena) who organised the largest nonviolent protest in U.S. history to obtain basic human rights for over 50,000 farm workers in California.

Bentley (Pictured) will play fearless attorney Jerry Cohen, Cudlitz will play a sheriff who lets his personal opinions cloud his judgment, Vargas will play Cesar's older brother, Arias will play the United Farm Workers Union secretary-treasurer Gilbert Padilla, Moses will play seasoned organizer Fred Ross who mentors Chavez.

America Ferrera and Rosario Dawson co-star as Chavez's wife and top aide respectively.

Luna, Gael Garcia Bernal, Pablo Cruz, John Malkovich, Lianne Halfon, Russell Smith and Larry Meli will produce the pic.

Riddick 3 Wraps

Vin Diesel posted via Facebook a possible release window for David Twohy's Riddick.

Picking up where The Chronicles of Riddick left off, the sequel has the anti-hero (Diesel) left for dead on a harsh planet with three moons, populated with nasty creatures like trisons and mud demons, being hunted by at least two ships populated by mercenaries.


Karl Urban, Katee SackhoffJordi Molla Matt Nable, Bokeem Woodbine, Conrad Pla, Raoul Trujillo, Nolan Funk Keri Hilson and WWE wrestler Dave Bautista co-star.

Steve Coogan has joined the voice cast of "Despicable Me 2" says Heat Vision.

Details of Coogan’s character were not revealed.

Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud will direct the sequel from a script by Ken Daurio and Cinco Paul.

Steve Carell will return to voice Gru, with Jason Segel, Russell Brand, Kristen Wiig, Miranda Cosgrove and Julie Andrews will reprise their roles from Despicable Me. Al Pacino will make his animated film debut as the voice of the villain El Macho

The sequel is due to hit theaters on July 2, 2013.

Abigail Spencer has joined the indie romantic drama "Kilimanjaro " says The Hollywood Reporter.

In the pic Brian Geraghty will play a man determined to climb the African peak called Mount Kilimanjaro after a recent breakup.

Sahay Joins Wer

Vik Sahay ("Chuck") has joined the cast of "The Devil Inside" director William Brent Bell on the horror flick "Wer says The Hollywood Reporter.

The pseudo-doco follows a defense attorney (Kate Moore) looking to clear a client (Brian J. O'Connor) suspected in a grisly multiple slaying of a vacationing American family. There's more to the client however than it would appear on the surface.

Copley Digs Open Grave; Inks OldBoy Bad Guy Deal

"District 9" star Sharlto Copley has joined the new thriller "Open Grave" reports Deadline.

The story has Copley's character waking up in a pit full of rotting bodies and amnesia. He begins to have flashbacks of himself murdering people and stars to believe he’s the killer.

Filming is about to start in Hungary

The actor has also closed his deal to play the villain in the remake of Chan-wook Park's 2003 cult classic Old Boy.

The older film centered on a man kidnapped and held for 15 years in solitary confinement without explanation. He is eventually released and sets out on a path of revenge.

Mark Protosevich wrote the adapted screenplay from which Spike Lee is calling action.

Josh Brolin has been cast in the lead. Elizabeth Olsen will play the part of the caseworker Marie who helps investigate the past of Brolin's character.

Doug Davison and Roy Lee will produce.

Shooting kicks off in late September in order to accomodate Brolin's press commitments for "Men In Black 3" hitting on May 25th 2012.

Brosnan Helps Wilson In The Coup

Pierce Brosnan has joined the actioner "The Coup" says The Hollywood Reporter.

The story follows an American family led by Owen Wilson that relocates to the region only to become embroiled in a violent coup as rebels mercilessly attack the city.

Brosnan plays a mysterious and ultimately heroic government operative.

John Erick Dowdle ("Devil") will direct from a screenplay he co-wrote with his brother Drew Dowdle.

Adam Ripp, Rob Paris, Steve Alexander and Drew Dowdle will produce the film.

Production kicks off in Southeast Asia in October.

Gallner Gets Beautiful

Kyle Gallner has joined the supernatural love story "Beautiful Creatures" says Variety.

The story is based on the first in a trilogy of novels by authors Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. In the first book, high-school student Ethan Wate (Alden Ehrenreich) meets and becomes bewitched by Lena Duchannes (Alice Englert), a 16-year-old whose family has moved to the small South Carolina town where he lives. The two must confront a curse that has haunted her family for generations as she comes to grips with her powers.

Oscar-nominated "The Help" actress Viola Davis plays a librarian and friend of the teen boy's deceased mother who loves him like a son and will do whatever she can to protect him. Emma Thompson will play the complex role of Mrs. Lincoln, who is a small town religious leader, who is also possessed by a dark witch named Sarafine Project X star Thomas Mann will play O'Connell's best friend Link who has a thing for both music and magic--Emmy Rossum's witch character named Ridley, who is also Englert's cousin. Jeremy Irons will play the role of Macon Ravenwood Uncle of Englert. Margo Martindale will play Lena's Aunt Del who helps to protect her from the family's dark side. Zoey Deutch will play Emily Asher, Ethan's ex-girlfriend and the ringleader of the high school's popular clique that conspires against Lena. Rachel Brosnahan will play Genevieve, who appears as Ethan's love interest in flashbacks.

Kurtzman And Orci On Mummy & Helsing

"Star Trek"/"Transformers" scribes Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci have just inked a 2 year deal with Universal according to a just issued Press Release

The first films of the deal are reboots for 2 of director Stephen Sommers films "Mummy " and "Van Helsing" which are several library titles the pair are reportedly planning to 'reimagine'.

The 'Mummy' reboot made news a few weeks ago with writer Jon Spaihts and producer Sean Daniel  already working on it

Word of 'Helsing' getting another go however is new. The surprise here is that it looks as if Tom Cruise is replacing Hugh Jackman as as Cruise is officially attached to star in and produce the film.

Kurtzman and Orci penned the currently shooting Untitled Star Trek Sequel and they remain attached to pen a sequel to "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" and most recently performed re-writes on Doug Liman's sci-fi war tale "All You Need Is Kill" starring Cruise

Wood Sits At The Grand Piano

Elijah Wood will star in the indie thriller "Grand Piano" says Heat Vision.

The tone is said to be like Speed starring Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock.

The story centers on a once-great concert pianist who suffers from stage fright and comes back to perform after a five-year hiatus. Just when he's about to start he notices somebody has written a threatening note on his music sheet - forcing him to play his best concert ever to save both his life and his wife's.

Michelle Rodriguez Likes To Come Back

Michelle Rodriguez is set to reprise her role as Letty Ortiz in "The Fast and the Furious 6", and the role of Luz in  Robert Rodriguez's "Machete Kills" says Variety

Rodriguez's 'Fast' series character seemingly met her end on the first reel of the fourth film "Fast and Furious". But her death happened off screen the possibility of her return always existed.

A post-credits bit in last year's "Fast Five" saw Eva Mendes' character holding a file which showed the character was still very much alive.

Moura Sees Fellini In Black And White

Brazilian actor Wagner Moura ("Elite Squad") will play Italian filmmaker Federico Fellini in new indie drama "Fellini Black and White" reports Variety.

Set in Los Angeles in 1957, the story follows Fellini's first trip to America to attend the Oscars, during which time he went missing for 48 hours and barely made it to the ceremony. Afterwards he returned to Italy to create his two most iconic films- "La Dolce Vita" and "8½".

The pic comes up with a scenario as to what may have happened during those two days - in this case discovering the jazz and surf scenes and falling for a veterinarian.

Terrence Howard, Peter Dinklage and William H. Macy are attached to play a jazz musician, the vet's lover and Fellini's publicist respectively.

Rihanna NOT Doing Fast 6

Late yesterday the British trade The Sun claimed that Rihanna was reportedly up to play the villain in "The Fast and the Furious 6"

The source said “Rihanna impressed with her acting debut in Battleship. Writers think she’ll be perfect for the role. Her character has plenty of bite and doesn’t take any prisoners — just like her in real life."

Turns out it's not true--The Singer's Rep told MTV News, “As far as I’m aware this is not true.”

Battleship hits US theaters on May 18th

Filming on "Fast Six" is aiming to kick off in London and other areas of Europe in June.

The sequel is currently slated for a May 24th 2013 release.

Sly Talks Final Rambo Flick

Sylvester Stallone tells MTV News that Rambo: Last Stand is all but a sure thing.

“There’s a volcanic eruption [brewing]. The magma of Rambo is coming to the surface. I like the whole Mexican situation, what’s going on down there. So I’m working on a formula for it right now.”

Quartet Of Ladies Live On Liberty Lane

Emily Watson, Sandra Oh, Nia Vardalos and Melora Hardin have all joined Peter Hewitt's rom-com "33 Liberty Lane" says The Hollywood Reporter.

The story follows four down-on-their-luck women turning to telephone sex as a way to make a quick buck. The trouble is all have little sexual expertise - one's a virgin, one a serial marrier, one a stalled corporate executive, and one a recently dumped mother.

Stephen Ayres wrote the script.

The pic will be produced by Su Armstrong  and Brian Rosen

The film begins shooting this Summer in Manitoba for a possible Sundance Film Festival 2013 premiere.

Green Initiative--New Hulk Film After All?

Some early reviews for writer/director Joss Whedon's The Avengers movie have cited Mark Ruffalo's incarnation of the Hulk and Bruce Banner as a highlight of the film and easily the best take on the character yet over Eric Bana in 2003's Hulk and Ed Norton in '08's The Incredible Hulk

The praise has been enough for Marvel suit Kevin Feige, who previously said that there were no plans at the moment to do another Hulk, to be reconsidering his position.

Speaking with Forbes, Marvel rep Paul Glitter says the company could "spin him [The Incredible Hulk] off to a stand-alone [TV] program next year" followed by "a big budget franchise movie in 2015."

Ruffalo has said that he's signed for six Marvel films. The question is whether this big screen entry would be a standalone film or a possible "Avengers 2- a scenario that's more in keeping with Feige's overall plans to be very careful and deliberate with the character's use on film.

Dowd And Frost Show Off Cuban Fury

Chris O'Dowd ("Bridesmaids") and Nick Frost ("Hot Fuzz") are set to star in the salsa dance comedy "Cuban Fury" says The Sun (via ThePlaylist).

Frost will play a former teen dance prodigy who attempts a comeback years after a rival (O'Dowd) ruined his career.

Huppert Joins Dead Man

Isabelle Huppert has joined the action-thriller Dead Man Down says Deadline.

The pic follows a man (Colin Farrell) who infiltrates a crime syndicate responsible for the death of his family.

Terrence Howard is set to play the villain Noomi Rapace plays a mysterious, scarred beauty with intimate knowledge of his past. Dominic Cooper plays a family man who works as Farrell's partner on the street.

There's no word on Huppert's role

Niels Arden Oplev, helmer of the original Swedish-language "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" which launched Rapace with international stardom, will direct using a script by J.H. Wyman.

Neal Moritz will produce the film.

Production began last week in Philadelphia.

Others Gather For The End Of The World

Emma Watson is in talks while Jason Segel and David Krumholtz are set to appear as themselves in the comedy The End of the World says Heat Vision.

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg make the feature directiing debut on the film.

Rogen, Jay Baruchel, Jonah Hill James Franco Danny McBride Aziz Ansari and Craig Robinson will star in the film which revolves around two guys who, with the end the world unfolding and the planet invaded by monsters, are ready to kill each other after being cooped up together for too long.

The film will expand the 2007 faux trailer which was shopped around as a proof-of-concept reel for the feature length version.

Nyqvist Flies With The Seagull

Michael Nyqvist is joining the modern re-telling of Anton Chekhov's play "The Seagull" says Variety.

The story is set in rural New England where reckless desire wreaks havoc over Memorial Day weekend as a family confronts the volatile and fragile nature of love.

Nyqvist plays the jovial estate caretaker.

Katie Holmes, William Hurt, Allison Janney, Russell Means, Jean Reno, Mark Rylance and Juliet Rylance also star.

Christian Camargo, best known as the homicidal brother of the title character in the cable series "Dexter", will make his directorial debut on the pic which he has adapted.

Rylance and Barbara Romer will produce.

Production begins next month in Connecticut.

Nolan called action on the DKR from a screenplay he wrote with bro Jonathan Nolan, from a story by Nolan and David S. Goyer that features Bane (Hardy) and Catwoman (Hathaway) plotting to take down Batman (Bale).

The sequel is set to hit theaters on July 20th, 2012.
