Copley Digs Open Grave; Inks OldBoy Bad Guy Deal

"District 9" star Sharlto Copley has joined the new thriller "Open Grave" reports Deadline.


The story has Copley's character waking up in a pit full of rotting bodies and amnesia. He begins to have flashbacks of himself murdering people and stars to believe he’s the killer.

Gonzalo López-Gallego directs the pic using a script by Eddie Borey and Chris Borey

William Green and Aaron L. Ginsburg will produce the pic.

Filming is about to start in Hungary

The actor has also closed his deal to play the villain in the remake of Chan-wook Park's 2003 cult classic Old Boy.

The older film centered on a man kidnapped and held for 15 years in solitary confinement without explanation. He is eventually released and sets out on a path of revenge.

Mark Protosevich wrote the adapted screenplay from which Spike Lee is calling action.

Josh Brolin has been cast in the lead. Elizabeth Olsen will play the part of the caseworker Marie who helps investigate the past of Brolin's character.

Doug Davison and Roy Lee will produce.

Shooting kicks off in late September in order to accomodate Brolin's press commitments for "Men In Black 3" hitting on May 25th 2012.
