RIP Yvonne De Carlo (1922-2007)

The great actress Yvonne De Carlo died on Monday of natural causes at the Motion Picture & Television facility. She was 84 years old.

She will of course, be best remembered for her role as Lilly in the sit-com "The Munsters" (1964-1966) Throughout the series 71 episodes, one theatrical reunion film called Munster, Go Home (1966), and the telepic The Munsters' Revenge (1981) she helped the idea soar--even under all of that make-up.

Away from "The Munsters" De Carlo used her striking talents and beauty as Sephora in the epic The Ten Commandments (1956). She played the legendary figure Calamity Jane in 1949's Calamity Jane and Sam Bass. That same year, she was the leading lady in the excellent crime pic Criss Cross.

She also made a ton of guest appearances on TV...My favorite though was as Mrs Smith for the anthology cable series "Tales from the Crypt" in 1993.

For more on De Carlo, Bob Thomas of the Associated Press has this obituary...
