Stargazing And Praising

Last month TrekMovie.com reported that the first teaser trailer for the new Star Trek movie was already in the works and that it could possibly be attached to of the J.J. Abrams-produced monster flick Cloverfield. Now, that same site has confirmed that speculation to be true:

Apparently the trailer is complete, which was possible because work on the trailer began well before principal photography for the film commenced earlier this month. Indications are the trailer will show the construction of the Enterprise. Apparently there was even talk about the trailer showing with Paramount’s big Christmas movie for this year, Sweeney Todd. It is possible that Cloverfield was chosen for the Abrams connection or maybe even to help that film’s ticket sales with all the rabid Trekkies flocking to catch their first glimpse...

Cloverfield and the Star Trek trailer hit cineplex screens on January 18th, 2008.

The Trek Trailer will show up on the net a few days later, I'm sure. You can bet that I will post it here as soon as I can...

In related Trek news:

TV Guide recently announced the winners of its 2007 Online Video Awards and the Internet fan film series Star Trek: New Voyages won the top prize as best Sci-fi Webisodes.

Chosen by fans, Star Trek: New Voyages won out over fellow nominees, the SciFi Channell's “Battlestar Galactica,” the USA Network's “The 4400,” and “Afterworld”, which is produced for the MySpace.com site.

Kudos to executive producer James Cawley and co. for beating out some pretty stiff competition! It's quite the feather... NV has raised the bar for all of the fan created media that's out there in cyberspace.

Get the full story here...While you're there be sure to download all of the episodes. They are worth the click even for the non Treker.

Is this Star Trek or STAR WRECK?

Is this Star Trek or STAR DRECK?

Is this Star Trek or STAR HECK!?

Why on Earth - or Vulcan - are you "remaking" movies which are fine as is? Shatner gone?

WHAT IS THIS SPACE MADNESS!?

STAR GRAZING & STAR LAZING - Abrams is lazily eating at the trough of the unsophisticated Trekker.

I grew to hate Star Trek after that lame assed Enterprise.

Real junk.

Hey BCV-

You are absolutely right. There's no reason why I can't respond to comments left by those who take the time to read my stuff. From here on out I promise to be more involved on that side of things...

Is all forgiven?

Thanks for stopping by--T

TR-

I agree. Enterprise smelled up the place pretty bad. The film Nemesis certainly didn't help the cause either-T

Nemesis was so MUCH BETTER than Insurrection or even Enterprise. How can you say that?

Since when did this film blog turn into a Star Trek geek fest?

I come to this blog for film information, not to be overwhelmed with nerds who live at Star Trek conventions.

Live Long & Poop!

TR-

Nemesis had its moments of good stuff, I grant ya- but the film was basically a retread of Star Trek II with a clone substituting for Kahn.

And yet another Data like android...T

I'm sorry you don't care for all of the Trek film coverage

As a major franchise and 2008 flick, it's news whatever your feelings are about it. I think I do a good job talking about all kinds of films

I blog multiple stories everyday. Since I am a Trekker though-it's gonna get discussed quite a lot.-T

I like the Star Trek film reporting here. Keep it up please!

Does that mean I have to wear Vulcan ears and slap a "Beam me up, Scotty!" bumper sticker on my car?

STiL-

Fear not. With the film now only about a year away and in production now. I'll be talking Trek throughout next year and beyond-T

LLaP-

Of course not...

Just promise to learn to speak Klingon and you'll be fine...LOL.

Star Trek must live on to preserve global integrity, correct?

But at what cost? A slick remake?

Star Trek may have stumbled, but it's still the best science fiction franchise around.
