Story-Teller

Most folks I know that saw 2005's Fantastic Four movie, were ultimately disappointed, with the way things turned out. While I will admit that it didn't reach the cinematic heights of say, the first two Spider-Man films, still for me, FF was was far from the disaster some called it..,The team behind the film must have done something right, cause shortly after the film was released, the studio gave the go ahead for a sequel.

Director Tim Story, (who helmed the original) is now hard at work on the latest installment in the franchise, called Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (I hate that subtitle!). Slated to hit theaters on June 15, 2007, filming is now under way... Story updates his blog, discussing in some detail, the first few days of filming.

Stax of Filmforce offers up some highlights:

"Felt like old times. Everyone's back in the mix and really picking their characters up where we last left off," Story posted, adding, "We also shot Andre Braugher for the first time. He plays General Hager, an old acquaintance of Reed Richards and one of the major additions to the movie."

The director informed fans that "one of the days was pretty long. Just happened to be one of those locations that we can't come back to and we had a lot of effects shots. Those things always take forever. The background plates, then the actor buy [sic] himself, then the crowd. Blah blah blah. Wish we could shoot everything practically, but then again, I guess stretching Ioan [Gruffudd, who plays Mr. Fantastic] may not go over too well."

Needless to say, I'll be checking in on Story's blog, as filming kicks into high gear...

Everyone's back for the sequel
