Jeffrey Donovan Lands "Sicario" Gig

Former "Burn Notice:" star Jeffrey Donovan has joined Denis Villeneuve's crime thriller "Sicario" says Deadline.


 The Taylor Sheridan conceived story revolves around a law enforcement agent (Emily Blunt) who works with a mysterious government operative (Benicio del Toro) and an elite group of fellow agents to track down a drug kingpin.

Donovan will play Steve Forsing, a no-nonsense DEA Agent who engages in an all-out firefight at the Juarez border while transferring a prisoner.

Josh Brolin plays a CIA guy who runs the task force that recruits Blunt's character from a SWAT squad out of Tucson. Former "The Walking Dead" co-star Jon Bernthal will play a character named Ted in the film. Skins UK TV series star Daniel Kaluuya will play Reggie Wayne, an FBI agent partnered with Blunt.Maximiliano Hernández ("Captain America: The Winter Soldier) will play a hard-drinking drug smuggling cop in Mexico.

Basil Iwanyk, Molly Smith, Trent Luckinbill and Thad Luckinbill will produce the pic.

Production is currently underway in New Mexico.
