Writes Of Passage

Negotiations are set to begin between the Writers Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers next week --with hope of averting a strike--that would affect tinseltown from top to bottom. At least one side is not all that happy about where things stand:

"The preview of Writers Guild negotiations makes me very pessimistic," admitted Nick Counter, president of [AMPTP], at a media briefing Wednesday. "I've never seen a list of the magnitude that they've outlined in their pattern of demands."

Cue the ominous music. As for me, I'm going to remain positive, that the "crisis" can be averted.

Box Office Update For Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix:

The late night shows for "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" brought in a record-breaking $12 million, the most for a Wednesday opening midnight run in Hollywood's history. Previous record-holder was "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King."...
