Captive Audience

Joining the latest Harry Potter flick (that opened on Wednesday) at the cineplex this weekend, is the new thriller Captivity (reviews), starring Elisha Cuthbert and Daniel Gillies.

For a movie that's had a lot of positive internet buzz over the last few months--Captivity had its release date pushed back from mid-May...

...And now that it's finally out, the film is being savaged by the critics...Sounds like another case of hyped hype ala' last summer's Snakes On A Plane. Despite my having a crush on Cuthbert--this one's a renter for sure. I think it's safe to say that Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix has nothing to worry about.

Joshua Rich of Entertainment Weekly:

The new Harry Potter film already scored the biggest Wednesday premiere ever, and will have ''Transformers'' tumbling to No. 2

Up Next: The star-studded Hairspray gets in your face, Chuck and Larry get hitched, and Werner Herzog's war pic Rescue Dawn, starring Christian Bale, goes wide soon.
