Heat Vision reports that Adam Scott and Toni Collette have joined the cast of the horror comedy "The Krampus".
Todd Casey and Zach Shields wrote the initial script set around the Christmas holiday and a pagan demon called Krampus who punishes the wicked. The story centers on a family that comes under attack from the ancient entity who goes after bad kids.
Scott will play the workaholic and rather absent dad who has to step up for his family. Collette is the mother who pretends everything is perfect with her family.
Allison Tolman plays Collette’s sister-in-law while Emjay Anthony is the son.
Legendary Pictures hired Michael Dougherty to co-write and direct the film. Dougherty of course co-wrote "X2: X-Men United" and "Superman Returns" and his hiring is not a shock given the cult fanbase (myself among them) that love his Halloween-themed horror anthology flick "Trick 'r Treat". Dougherty has also been drawing inventive and twisted Christmas cards for well over a decade.
Production is slated to begin in the Spring in New Zealand.
The project is not to be confused with that other Krampus movie in the works--"Anti-Claus" that Kevin Smith is slated to direct.
