The movie will be the eighth overall entry in the franchise and is sharing the same title as the 3rd film in the series. This one will serve as a prequel to Tobe Hooper's original 1974 classic and explore the .origins of the character--focusing on his teenage years (Strike). He resides in a mental institution until he joins a pack of fellow patients who all break out and go on the run from the authorities.
Genre screenwriter Seth M. Sherwood has signed on to write the script for French filmmakers Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo who will direct. The pair are said to have beaten out "Starry Eyes" filmmakers Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer for the job
Carl Mazzocone, Christa Campbell and Lati Grobman are producing the pic.
I know I'm in the minority here but I really enjoyed the 2003 version of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and its prequel The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning from '06; Both films were improvements over The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 in 1986 1990's Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3 and the more recent Texas Chainsaw 3D
