Crisis-Mode

The headline says it all:

HOLLYWOOD WRITERS BEGIN STRIKE AFTER LAST-DITCH STUDIO TALKS FAIL...

Nick Counter of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers:
"Notwithstanding the fact that negotiations were ongoing, the WGA decided to start their strike in New York. When we asked if they would 'stop the clock' for the purpose of delaying the strike to allow negotiations to continue, they refused. We made an attempt at meeting them in a number of their key areas including Internet streaming and jurisdiction in New Media. Ultimately, the guild was unwilling to compromise on most of their major demands. It is unfortunate that they choose to take this irresponsible action."

Speaking of those final negotiations...

Writers in last-minute talks

With Hollywood on the verge of all-out war, last-minute talks gave a slight hope that today's writers strike could be averted -- or at least delayed for a few days....

Studios well stocked for strike

It would take months for majors to feel impact...

Well, there it is folks...while it is true that TV will be hit hard and first...If it is a prolonged walkout the films on track for 2009 will be hardest hit...

The Writers Guild of America may be on strike but that doesn't mean that the movie news (and rumors) will stop...

To Wit:

Stallone has 'Death Wish'

'Rambo' star, MGM have remake in crosshairs

I'm actually surprised this remake hasn't happened sooner. The original Death Wish with Charles Bronson is a great flick and is gonna be hard to beat. It's kinda ironic that another icon of 70's/80's cinema like Stallone is stepping into the long shadow of Bronson's for the new version

Paramount, Fincher catch 'Killer'

'Zodiac' director to take on graphic novel

David Fincher gives his work a very stylized look no matter the genre...Making him the perfect choice to adapt a graphic novel...
