Old Wives Tale

Michael Fleming of Variety reports today that an actor best known for making us laugh--is about to try his hand at drama:

Tim Allen (pictured) and Elisha Cuthbert (formerly of TV's 24) have signed on to star in the indie family dramedy "The Six Wives of Henry Lefay"

The non-linear story has Allen playing a flashy salesman who is presumed dead after he goes missing while skydiving

When his daughter (Cuthbert, also pictured) returns home to arrange for his funeral, she finds out that his current wife and her five predecessors are fighting over who gets to bury him.

Right there, I love the premise. 7 women fight to take control of a "corpse" Dark comedy indeed!! Paz Vega, the great Andie MacDowell, Kelli Garner and S. Epatha Merkerson are negotiating to play the wives.

The non-linear narrative is not new for film but shiuld work well here.

Shrek the Third co-writer Howard Gould penned the script and will also make his feature directing debut on the film. Shooting begins on the film starts in Sept in Connecticut.

I'm a fan of Cuthbert's. And as for Allen--He's talented but needs a good script behind him. I'm hoping this film will work in Allen's favor.
