The Music Man

From Variety:

Oscar winner Jamie Foxx (pictured) has inked a deal to star in the musical biopic "The Soloist" for DreamWorks.

The story centers on a homeless musical prodigy Nathaniel Ayers, who developed Schizophrenia in his sophomore year at Juilliard and ended up living on the streets of L.A. where he performs the violin and cello-with dreams of playing at the Walt Disney Concert Hall

Susannah Grant penned the adapted screenplay from a 12-part series of Los Angeles Times articles by Steve Lopez. Lopez developed a friendship with Ayers, and will be a featured character in the film.

Foxx is a classically trained musician in his own right and is being taught how to play stringed instruments.

Joe Wright is slated to direct with production set to start in January.

Foxx is perfect for this movie! I look forward to seeing his performance. If it's even half as good as his work in 2004's Ray audiences are in for another top notch flick. Is more Oscar gold in Foxx's future?
