Heat Vision reports that Jay Baruchel has signed on to star in and executive produce the film adaptation of author Stephen King's short story "The Ten O'Clock People".
The story tells of a smoker (Baruchel) who returns to his old habit with a cessation drug still in his system, triggering a side effect that reveals a frightening reality in which many people in authority are monsters.
Justin Long was previously attached, but had to vacate the film due to scheduling conflicts. And then Chris Evans was said to be
circling the film. Rachel Nichols was in talks to play a woman who can also see this horrible reality.
Tom Holland ("Child's Play," the original "Fright Night") wrote the adapted script and will direct
Don Carmody is producing the film
The tale was first published in the 1993 as part of the anthology "Nightmares And Dreamscapes". Five stories from the collection made up a basic cable anthology mini-series of the same name in 2006.
Production is now set to begin in June in Montreal.
