Based on author DBC Pierre's 2003 debut novel, the story is set in a small Texan border town. A violent school shooting is perpetrated by a bullied loner who guns down six classmates and then himself. Vernon (Abrams), his only friend, not only witnesses the suicide he then becomes a suspect in the shootings.
Brand would play a charming but manipulative reporter who is willing to betray anyone in order to get a fresh angle on the story. Pieterse plays the beautiful but self-absorbed object of Vernon’s affections.
Pamela Anderson will play Vernon's mother while Mike Tyson will play a prison-bound ax murderer. Yes you read that right that right--Pammy and Iron Mike also star.
Werner Herzog helms from a script by Andrew Birkin ("Perfume: The Story of a Murderer).
Katja Eichinger and Stefan Arndt will produce the film.
Despite the dark subject matter, the tone is said to be that of a satirical black comedy about America's fame and violence obsessions.
Production is set to begin this spring in Mexico after Herzog finishes the biopic "Queen Of The Desert".
