War Room

Variety has news on director Paul Greengrass' next flick--that has the Iraq War as its backdrop

Amy Ryan (pictured) and Greg Kinnear are set to join the cast of the as yet untitled war thriller

The story is set in the embattled country's Green Zone, a walled and fortified area where U.S. troops have their base of operations.

Matt Damon is also on board as a military officer who teams with a senior government type officer to search for any evidence of weapons of mass destruction.

Ryan will play a New York Times foreign correspondent in Iraq to investigate the US Government's WMD claims. Kinnear plays the Central Intelligence Agency official.

Greengrass and writer Brian Helgeland adapted the premise from the nonfiction book "Imperial Life in the Emerald City" by Rajiv Chandrasekaran.

Iraq War movies have had a tough time at the cineplex of late. Greengrass has assembled quite a team...It will be interesting to see if this flick will be buck the trend...

Here's a tip for Greengrass and Co: Make an honest nd watchable movie...And don't ask Brian De Palma for advice on what to do...

Production begins today in Spain.
