Protection Order

Dwayne Johnson replaces Clive Owen in the lead of the action-thriller Protection says The Wrap.

Brandon Noonan's script sees Johnson play a disgraced former Special Forces soldier turned bodyguard of a judge's 21-year-old daughter who witnesses her father's murder at the hands of a member of a powerful Mexican cartel.

The pair go on the run across both sides of the border with the cartel's enforcers, who want to kill the girl before she can testify, in close pursuit.

Originally to be directed by Simon West then District 13: Ultimatum helmer Patrick Alessandrin have also left the project, a new director has yet to be announced.

Paul Walker had the starring role at one point

Johnson, Mark Ciardi and Gordon Gray will produce the pic.
