N.Y. Loves Eisner

Director Breck Eisner has been charged with bringing the long gestating remake of John Carpenter's Escape From New York says the Heat Vision Blog

Len Wiseman was originally offered the director's chair, only to be replaced by Brett Ratner and at one point Gerard Butler was offered the lead role of Snake Plissken but all of that ended up stalling the redo .

Allan Loeb (Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, 21) wrote the latest version of the script after Ken Nolan, David Kajganich took a shot--which apparently "tries to mix an origin story for anti-hero Snake Plissken and merge it with the story of the 1981 original".

Neal Moritz will produce the totally unnecessary pic
