The Last "Dance" (Until Next Year Anyway)

Zap2it.com's Andrew Rodgers has a nice little summary of a few of the major deals struck at the recently completed Sundance Film Festival.

While I had already commented on the deal for the festival's biggest film, Little Miss Sunshine, there are a few other films that made out pretty good:

...the new Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) movie, "The Science of Sleep" Starring Gael GarcĂa Bernal and Charlotte Gainsbourg, this visually stunning film was purchased for a reported $6 million by Warner Independent Pictures.

I liked "Eternal Sunshine" a lot. It was a very different kind of Sci-Fi flick. Based on what I know of "Sleep"s premise, it sounds very cool and has great "wow" potential.

The Night Listener, based on the mystery novel by Armistead Maupin and starring Robin Williams, indie film favorite Toni Collette and TV's superstar Sandra Oh, looks quite strong, going to Miramax Films.

Bauer Martinez scooped up The Darwin Awards, one of actor Chris Penn's final films, for an unknown fee.
