Asa Butterfield Eyed For "Miss Peregrine”

"Hugo" and "Ender's Game" star Asa Butterfield is the top choice for a pivotal role in the film adaptation of author Ransom Riggs' novel "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children” says The Wrap.

The story follows 16-year-old Jacob Portman (Butterfield) who goes on a quest to seek the truth about his grandfather's past, after he is murdered by an evil creature called a "hollow". He is soon introduced to Miss Peregrine (Eva Green) and other children with extraordinary abilities.

Jane Goldman (X-Men: First Class) is set to write the adapted script for director Tim Burton. Green previously worked with Burton in the 2012 movie Dark Shadows, which also starred Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer and Helena Bonham Carter.

Peter Chernin is producing the film.

Production is scheduled to begin in February.
