Sing A Song For Your Film Bits

-Phil Lord and Chris Millar, the co-writers and directors of the animated flick Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, are in talks to develop and direct the comedy Bob: The Musical reports Risky Biz Blog. The story follows a regular guy who, after a blow to the head, suddenly can hear the inner songs of everyone’s hearts as his reality is instantly turned into a musical much to his dismay. Marc Shaiman, who composed the original music for Hairspray, is writing the music and a new writer will shortly be hired do more work on the script. Mike Bender wrote the first draft and director, Adam Shankman, was set to helm, then Babaloo Mandel and Lowell Ganz tried writing the script The Cloudy pair will work on  the project around their commitment to shoot the 21 Jump Street flick.

-Lucy PunchBob Odenkirk and Rich Sommer have all joined the romantic comedy " The Giant Mechanical Man" according to The Hollywood Reporter.The film follows a quiet zoo worker (Jenna Fischer) who is torn between a street performer (Chris Messina) and a pompous motivational speaker (Topher Grace). Punch will play the street-performer's girlfriend. Malin Akerman also stars. Lee Kirk penned the script and is calling action with shooting currently underway in Detroit

-Neill Blomkamp is reuniting with his District 9 star Sharlto Copley for the sci-fi action thriller "Elysium" says Deadline The story is set on a distant planet in the future and will deal with social and political themes.

Paul Rudd  told MTV all the talk of him playing a role in  The Muppets movie is not the case "I wish that I was [in it]. It’s all rumor. I wanted to be in it, and I talked to Jason [Segel], but I think there was some things that happened and I don’t know if I’m gonna get to do it"

-Cate Blanchett, Ken Stott, Sylvester McCoy, Mikael Persbrandt, Ryan Gage, Jed Brophy and William Kircher have joined  Peter Jackson's  The Hobbit: Part 1  and Part 2 according to an official press release via The Hollywood News

-First linked six months ago by Latino Review, Mark Wahlberg will officially produce and possibly star in a feature length adaptation of Ricardo De Montreuil's short film "The Raven" reports Heat Vision.

-John Hillcoat's The Promised Land seems to have come back to life with Shia Labeouf and Tom Hardy in the male leads says The Los Angeles Times.

-Giving an interview on SIRIUS Satellite Radio (via Screen Rant, filmmaker  Jon Favreau spoke a bit more about his Magic Kingdom."[The story] is essentially a family caught in Disneyland  bringing all of the attractions to life. I really want to plumb the depths of the history of the park because it's a place I love to go a few times a year" says Favreau.

-Adam Sandler and Kevin James are re-teaming for the comedy "Valet Guys" reports Deadline The story follows two longtime valets (Sandler & James) at a ritzy hotel in South Beach who witness a murder and go on the run.

-Michael Mann ("Heat," "The Insider") will team up with writer Sheldon Turner for the  mafia biopic "Big Tuna" " according to Variety. The story deals with Chicago mob boss Tony Accardo and his protege and eventual successor Sam Giancana. No studio has yet setup the project so Mann is hiring Turner out of his own development funds and is said to be considering this as his next project.

-Andy Wachowski and Lana Wachowski are set to do a contemporary update of the Robin Hood myth in "Hood" says Heat Vision.

-If next week's TRON Legacy does well enough to justify making a sequel, it's likely Irish actor Cillian Murphy will be involved as an antagonist or major villain of the says Indiewire

-Lucasfilm has officially denied the The Daily Mail's report that George Lucas is putting together a film featuring old stars digitally recreated
