Melting Iron

This news has the Net on fire!!

It started with the bombshell that Jon Favreau IS NOT going to direct Iron Man 3.

According to NY Mag, Favreau has moved on to prep the film Magic Kingdom

Recently it had begun to sound as though Marvel. and; Favreau were not on the same page Talking to MTV News this week he said of his conversations with Marvel: “This whole world … I have no idea what it is. I don’t think they do either, from conversations I’ve had with those guys.”

Favreau confirmed the move via Twitter saying: "It's true, I'm directing Magic Kingdom, not Iron Man 3. I've had a great run with Marvel and wish them the best."

Speaking with The Los Angeles Times, Favreau seems to harbor no ill will on the studio for pressuring him into putting more of The Avengers related material in Iron Man 2 or  that it was a money issue, instead saying that it was merely about him finding a project that "lights a fire" in him, instead looking for something with less built in expectations.

Favreau also said that things between him and Marvel Chief Kevin Feige are still fine with Feige serving as a "sounding board" for  Kingdom and the director still planning to be a producer on The Avengers. Speaking about Feige, Favreau said the following:

Marvel and I both came of age together. The years that we shared were a pivotal experience. Kevin has a firm grasp on the many franchises and how they all interweave and I am happy that I had the opportunity to establish the world that these characters can now play in….Iron Man has given me tremendous opportunities and Kevin and I are enjoying a lot of momentum in our careers thanks to the Iron Man movies I look forward to seeing what others can do playing in the same world.

Over at Comic Book Movie they say the conflict may not have been with chief suits but with star Robert Downey Jr.

Back in August, it was reported the actor was unhappy with the final result of Iron Man 2 and, according to the site's  unnamed source, it apparently caused a rift between himself and Favreau.

Who should or WILL take over? Let the speculation/rumors begin

Iron Man 3, is scheduled for May 3, 2013 release.
