Captain America 2: The New Suit

We know that Captain America sports a new costume  in the upcoming "Captain America: The Winter Soldier".

The story follows the acclaimed comic storyline The Winter Soldier by author Ed Brubaker, and  artist Steve Epting, in which Captain America's (Chris Evans) sidekick Bucky (Sebastian Stan) is resurrected as a brainwashed super-assassin known as the Winter Solider. The tale also follows that Peggy's (played by Hayley Atwell in Captain America: The First Avenger) niece Sharon (Revenge star Emily VanCamp) meets Cap.

The red blue and white suit seen in both Captain America: The First Avenger and Joss Whedon's "The Avengers" is gone to make way for a toned down and more practical navy blue with a single silver star.

Chatting with SFX Magazine, the sequel's co-director Joe Russo says the costume is in line with the more recent comic storyline and will reflect the path of the character:

"It was about a real world grounding approach to the character, in the spirit of Ed Brubaker's book, which is postmodern and deconstructionist and a grounded thriller. We wanted to put Cap in a space where he's a special forces operative for S.H.I.E.L.D. who goes on missions around the world that are clandestine and sometimes require a certain level of anonymity or stealth. We wanted to use his Super Soldier outfit from the comic books as a way to represent, thematically, his place in the world of SHIELD and the difference between working for SHIELD and being Captain America. That's something that gets explored on a very concrete level in terms of what outfits are used in the film. We didn't feel like we were messing with the icon. People can say that they're fans of the books if they're only loyal to the '60s and '70s version of the character - well, then you're a fan of that version of the character, but if you've been reading the books till the current runs then this is a journey that the character goes on and it's a pretty explicit journey. We just felt like we were being faithful to the more recent issues of the books. The movie has a very thematic component in terms of the use of costumes. When you come to see the film I think you'll understand why we made the choice we made."

Anthony Mackie is poised to play Harlem crime fighter FalconCobie Smulders will reprise her role of Maria Hill. She joins her boss in The Avengers co-star Samuel L. Jackson and Scarlett Johansson. for the film. Frank Grillo ("The Grey," "Warrior") will play the villain Crossbones in the sequel. Toby Jones, has confirmed to Hey U Guys that he will reprise the role of the villain Armin Zola. Maximiliano Hernández said via Twitter that he will reprise his "Avengers" role of Agent Jasper Sitwell in the sequel. Robert Redford (Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid) has entered talks for a senior leadership role in S.H.I.E.L.D.
