Fuhrman & Keach Dial Stephen King's "Cell"

Isabelle Fuhrman ("The Hunger Games," "Orphan") gets the female lead playing Alice in the film adaptation of Stephen King's psychological thriller novel "Cell" says Deadline.


Samuel L. Jackson will play Tom McCourt, an engineer and former soldier who teams with Clay Riddell (John Cusack) to escape Boston as the world goes mad. The cause is a powerful signal being broadcast across cell phone networks worldwide which re-programs the users’ minds and turns them murderous beasts.

 Alice a teenage neighbor of Riddell and joins both of them  on their journey to safety after a mysterious pulse spreads like a virus through the human population.

Variety adds that Stacy Keach has also been cast in the film as the headmaster of a prep school where the survivors stop along their way.


King co-wrote the adapted screenplay with The Last House On The Left screenwriter Adam Alleca from which Tod Williams  (Paranormal Activity 2) will direct.

Richard Saperstein, Brian Witten and Shara Kay will produce the film.

Production is underway in Atlanta.
