Chris Evans Talks Acting Retirement Again

In an extensive article about Captain America: The Winter Soldier  actor Chris Evans for Variety--he once again re-affirms that after his contract is fulfilled playing the star spangled superhero Captain America he's done acting.

Evans says: "If I'm acting at all, it's going to be under Marvel contract, or I'm going to be directing. I can't see myself pursuing acting strictly outside of what I'm contractually obligated to do."

Evans recently directed the indie film "1:30 Train" and hopes to do it again--he remains grateful for the opportunity that playing Cap has afforded him:

"Without these [Marvel] movies, I wouldn't be directing. They gave me enough overseas recognition to greenlight a movie. And if I'm speaking extremely candidly, it's going to continue to do that for as long as the Marvel contract runs."

Might he change his mind?

"For all I know, in five years, I might say, 'S**t, I miss acting.' Right now, I just want to get behind the camera and make movies" he says.

Still it would take a lot to act in a film, one of his agents asked him what would happen if a really great role came along, he told them no and that "we are turning a corner."

The story of Cap 2 follows the acclaimed comic storyline The Winter Soldier by author Ed Brubaker, and  artist Steve Epting, in which Captain America's (Chris Evans) sidekick Bucky (Sebastian Stan) is resurrected as a brainwashed super-assassin known as the Winter Solider.
