Selena Gomez, Vincent D'Onofrio, Robert Duvall, Ed Harris, Bryan Cranston and Danny McBride have all signed on to star in the film adaptation of author John Steinbeck's 1936 novel "In Dubious Battle" says THR.
Set in a fictionalized valley in California, the story explores themes Steinbeck continued to develop: group behavior, social injustice, man’s inhumanity to man. A labor conflict between migrant apple pickers and the local growers’ association is the backdrop against which Jim Nolan (James Franco) becomes involved in the labor movement and rapidly matures as he learns what it means to do organizational fieldwork
There are no details about which characters the other actors will play
Matt Rager ("As I Lay Dying") is writing the adapted screenplay from which Franco's going to direct.
Andrea Iervolino Lady Monika Bacardi Scott Reed, Vince Jolivette, Ron Singer and Iris Torres are producing the film.
Principal photography starts in March.
