THR reports that newly minted Oscar nominee and recent Golden Globe winner Michael Keaton is in talks to star in the biopic "The Founder"
.
Written by Robert Siegel ("Big Fan"), the film follows how Ray Kroc, a salesman from Illinois, met Mac and Dick McDonal,
who were running a burger operation in 1950s Southern California. Kroc
was impressed by the brothers' quick system of making the food and saw
franchise potential. He maneuvered himself into a position to be able
to pull the company from the brothers and create a billion-dollar
empire.
John Lee Hancock ("Saving Mr. Banks") is set to direct the film. Keaton reportedly met with Hancock earlier this week and has since received an offer.
Jeremy Renner and Don Handfield are likely producing the pic
The tone of the project is said to have that cruel, take no prisoners mentality of the likes of "The Social Network" and "There Will Be Blood".
