A young television actor is gonna have an awesome hiatus--nabbing a film with some high powered co-stars..

Lions Gate and the Firm have tapped Jared Padalecki...to star as painter Thomas Kinkade in biopic "The Christmas Cottage."

Padalecki Is Probably Giving 2 Thumbs Up Over His Next Film Gig

Peter O'Toole also will star in "Cottage," directed by Michael Campus, penned by Ken LaZebnik and based on the events that led to Kinkade becoming an artist. Filming begins in Vancouver this month with the goal of a holiday release.

Padalecki's wrapping his lead role on the second season of the CW's " Supernatural." He'salso appeared in "House of Wax" and "Flight Of The Phoenix."...

McClintock also reports that Oscar-winning actress Marcia Gay Harden has joined the cast as well...

This is quite a get for Mr. Padalecki any way you slice it. Not only is he working opposite screen legend O'Toole and the talented MGH.--but he has his first lead role, in a potentially BIG movie. Talk about pressure...
