RIP Kurt Vonnegut (1922-2007)

Influential, and at times controversial author Kurt Vonnegut , died Wednesday at 84. He suffered brain injuries after a recent fall at his Manhattan home, said his wife, photographer Jill Krementz.

His most well known novel, Slaughterhouse-Five hit the big screen as a 1972 feature film, remains a favorite of mine from the filmograpghy of director George Roy Hill. An adaptation of his book Breakfast of Champions was released in 1999, while the mis-step that was Slapstick (Of Another Kind) came in 1982.

The author wrote the script for Happy Birthday, Wanda June in '71 from his stage play of the same name. He also penned an episode for the 60's TV show "Bus Stop" entitled The Runaways

Mr. Vonnegut also appeared in 2 well known TV commercials. One for Discover credit cards in 1997, and for the Nissan Murano minivan in 2002.
