The "Sand" Man's set for his next movie role...
Dave McNary of Variety:
After his serious turn in "Reign Over Me," Adam Sandler [pictured] is back to comedy with Disney's "Bedtime Stories," to begin production this year with Adam Shankman ("Hairspray") helming.
Disney has set the film for a holiday 2008 release. "Stories" marks the actor's first feature project for Walt Disney Pictures , though he worked for the Mouse House on the 1998 Touchstone comedy "The Waterboy."
Sandler will portray a harried real estate developer whose life is suddenly turned upside down when the lavish bedtime stories he tells his niece and nephew begin to come true. Matt Lopez scripted...
Sandler's currently in "Reign Over Me" and Shankman's in post-production on New Line's "Hairspray" for a July 20 release.
Disney signed the helmer to "Bedtime Stories" earlier this year as it reupped for one year its first-look deal with Shankman and his Offspring Entertainment...Shankman got his Disney deal after directing hits "Bringing Down the House " and "The Pacifier" for the Mouse.
I'm a fan of Sandler's, to be sure, but his last comedy, didn't really Click for me. Hopefully, "Stories" will be better, and a lot more fun
...It's a holiday weekend and you know what that means..This week's new movies are not waiting for Friday to hit the cineplex. Two family flicks and a very adult story arrive. Ice Cube is back with his brood in Are We Done Yet? (reviews); "You will believe a dog can fly" in Todd Holland's Firehouse Dog (reviews); Dutch director Paul Verhoeven opens his Black Book aka Zwartboek (reviews) an erotic thriller set during WW II...None of these new pics are really wow-ing the critics...
