Cancelled And Delayed

A trio of stories with a common theme...

Item #1:

At a recent presentation of for "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" director David Fincher says that his future adaptation of Arthur C. Clarke's "Rendezvous With Rama" looks to be dead.

Fincher has been attached to the project for several years with actor Morgan Freeman.

Fincher tells First Showing -"It looks like it's not going to happen. There's no script and as you know,Morgan's not in the best of health right now. We've been trying to do it but it's probably not going to happen."

The story sees a group of astronauts investigating a 30-mile long hollow cylindrical alien spaceship. Inside they find a very alien world and something may still be alive.

Freeman has admitted there is a lot of difficulty in translating this book into a film...

Item #2:

Darren Aronofsky's boxing movie "The Fighter" has hit some bumps in the road according to both Aronofsky and star Mark Wahlberg (pictured looking like a fighter).

Out doing press for this Friday's "Max Payne", Wahlberg says he's been in training every morning for two years to play the role of Micky Ward in the film, but various things are still holding it up.

Aronofsky indicated last month that both financing and casting weren't finalized. Now, in attendance at the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival, he tells The Playlist that Brad Pitt is off of the project. Pitt was cast as Mickey's brother and trainer.

Repiorts have surfaced that Brandon Routh may be ready to step into the ring...if the film happens.

Item #3:

Blizzard Entertainment and Legendary Pictures film adaptation of the Warcraft franchise isn't likely to arrive next year as previously announced.

Blizzard head honcho Mike Morhaime tells Shack News: "I don't know about the 2009 date, but it is still something we are very excited about."

He adds that "We do have a draft of a script, it isn't final. I think we still need to do a lot of work."
