Gary Oldman joins Denzel Washington on the post-apocalyptic action film "The Book of Eli" reports Variety.The plot has a lone warrior Eli (Washington) who must fight to bring mankind knowledge that could be the key to its salvation.
Oldman will play the despot of a small makeshift town who's determined to take possession of the book Eli's taking care of.

Shooting begins in February in New Mexico with a release set for January 15th 2010.
