The Fox action rom com "This Means War" has lost its appeal to the Motion Picture Association of America to have its R rating overturned to a PG-13 according to THR
Tim Dowling ("Role Models," "Midnight Run 2") and Simon Kinberg wrote the script which follows two best friends (Chris Pine and Tom Hardy) and veteran spies who fall for the same woman (Reese Witherspoon) who has moved into their spare room. They end up fighting for her affections using their black-ops warfare tactics, a fight which literally demolishes much of New York City along the way.
McG directed the film while Will Smith and James Lassiter produced the pic.
The board upheld the R-rating for the film which contains "some sexual content"
Though nearly a thousand films are granted classification every year, less than a dozen of those go through the appeals process.
