Speaking to the LA Times Depp says of Cook, “He's instantly trustworthy. And you generally don't meet people at the studios you trust.”
Depp is already "signed" to star in a fourth Pirates movie but he says
“There's a fissure, a crack in my enthusiasm at the moment.”
It sounds as though Depp needs to feel “enthusiastic” about the script in order to be reeled in for sure... In the end I would be shocked if Depp didn't end up returning as Captain Jack just the same...
