Dale Returns To Ranger

James Badge Dale ("Shame "Rubicon") is back in the mix to join Gore Verbinski's big-budget re-telling of "The Lone Ranger" says Deadline.


The iconic character begins among a group of Texas Rangers chasing down a gang of outlaws led by Butch Cavendish. The gang ambushes the Rangers, seemingly killing them all. One survivor (The Social Network's Armie Hammer) is found, however, by an American Indian named Tonto (Johnny Depp), who nurses him back to health.

The Ranger, wearing a mask and riding a white stallion named Silver, teams up with Tonto to bring the unscrupulous gang and others of that ilk to justice.

The character began as a 1930s radio show before becoming a star is several movie serials, TV shows, comic strips comic books, toys, novels and more.

Dale's role is as Dan Reid, an ex-ranger and hero of the Old West--and brother to our hero. Dale was previously linked to the project last year before delays shut down production for several months.

Justin Haythe (Revolutionary Road) Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio wrote the script.

Helena Bonham Carter, Barry Pepper, singer/actor Dwight Yoakam Tom Wilkinson James Frain and Ruth Wilson co-star

Dale has also been linked as one of the candidates to play the son of John McClane (Bruce Willis) in the action sequel "A Good Day to Die Hard", His Ranger casting would take him out of the running due to scheduling conflicts.

Jerry Bruckheimer will produce the pic.

Production finally gets underway next month.
