X-Men Movies: Channing Tatum Talks Solo Gambit Film

We know that it's likely Channing Tatum is going to play the X-Men's mutant Gambit in the next chapter in the film series--the recently announced "X-Men: Apocalypse"...

Making the promo rounds for next weekend's comedy sequel 22 Jump Street Tatum told MTV:

"Creatively, we're starting to chug forward. Obviously there's nothing [official]. There are only conversations and dreams right now, really."

How about a solo adventure for Tatum's Gambit post "Apocalypse"?

Tatum says at one point they briefly talked about doing a standalone first, one that could "change the genre":

"We've talked about it being a standalone, first, and actually trying to change the 'hero, superhero movie.' Because Gambit is not your typical hero. He's a thief. He walks on the gray. I'm hoping we can change it a little bit, and then ultimately feather into the other ones."

Friday Night Lights and  "John Carter" star Taylor Kitsch played the character in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine"

Fox had locked down an untitled Marvel film project for July 18th 2018, which could be the potential slot for a "Gambit" centered film should it go forward?

"Apocalypse" will hit theaters on May 27, 2016 opposite Alice in Wonderland 2
