Rob Marshall ("Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," "Nine,") will direct a film adaptation of classic 1980s Stephen Sondheim Broadway musical "Into the Woods" says The Hollywood Reporter.
The musical tells the story of a baker and his wife’s attempt to have a family, but uses several classic fairy tale characters, such as Cinderella, Rapunzel and Little Red Riding Hood, to enhance the story
There's no cast attached yet.
Musical co-creator James Lapine is now adapting the script and Marshall expects to feature new songs by Sondheim.
Marshall also the new version of "The Thin Man" with Johnny Depp attached to star on his plate as well.
