Frequent episodic TV director Beth McCarthy will make her feature film directorial debut on the raunchy comedy "Tammy" says The Hollywood Reporter.
The story centers on an unemployed woman who discovers her husband is having an affair and decides to go on a road trip with her alcoholic, foul-mouthed, diabetic grandmother.
"Bridesmaids" actress Melissa McCarthy (no relation) co-wrote, executive produce and will star in the pic.
McCarthy told the trade that talk of a potential "Bridesmaids" sequel that would focus on her character because star Kristen Wiig doesn't want to do it is "unequivocally not true" and a terrible idea
