Irwin Winkler ("Rocky," "Goodfellas") and Jose Ruisanchez will pen the latest draft of the script for long gestating international thriller "The Sigma Protocol" says Deadline.
Based on author Robert Ludlum's final completed book, the 2001 thriller follows the son of a Holocaust survivor who gets entangled in an international conspiracy by industrialists and financiers to take advantage of wartime technology that reverses aging.
"Iron Man" co-writers Matt Holloway and Art Marcum wrote the previous script version which turned the lead into a Wall Street type who specializes in the economy of catastrophic events.
Winkler and Ruisanchez are ditching that idea and instead retaining the original premise of the book.
Antoine Fuqua ("Training Day") and José Padilha were previously set to helm, now no-one is attached to call action as of yet.
Winkler, Jeffrey M. Weiner and Ben Smith will produce the adaptation
