A final trailer for Summit Entertainment's big screen adaptation of the young adult dystopian tale "Divergent" has been released.
Author Veronica Roth's young adult novel is set in a society divided into five factions that each represent a particular virtue: honesty, selflessness, bravery, peacefulness and intelligence.Once a year, sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. It's then a teenage boy and girl set out to rebel against the system and discover a growing conflict that threatens to unravel this seemingly perfect society.
Shailene Woodley ("The Descendants") will star as 16-year old Beatrice Prior who leaves her group to join a rival faction and falls in love with a young man (Downton Abbey's star Theo James) whose character Tobias "Four" Eaton is her intense instructor and one of the leaders of the Dauntless faction.
James beat out Jeremy Irvine ("War Horse"), Lucas Till ("X-Men: First Class") and Alex Pettyfer ("Magic Mike") who all tested for the part. The role had been tough to cast with Luke Bracey, Brenton Thwaites, and Jack Reynor trying out for the part with Till in November 2012.
Jai Courtney will play Eric who is a leader of the Dauntless faction. Ansel Elgort will play Woodley's twin brother Caleb. Maggie Q will play a tattoo artist who befriends the girl, while Zoe Kravitz plays another of her allies named Christina. Aaron Eckhart would play heroine Beatrice Prior's father, Andrew, Ray Stevenson and Miles Teller who is playing Peter. Kate Winslet plays Jeanine Matthews the intelligent head of the 'Erudite' faction. Ben Lloyd-Hughes will play Will, the friend of Tris who becomes susceptible to the ill-doings of the Erudite faction leadership. Ben Lamb will portray fellow initiate Edward, who learns first-hand just how tough Dauntless initiation can be. Christian Madsen will portray Al who fares much worse in the story. Mekhi Phifer plays Max, a leader of the courageous, train-hopping, base-jumping sect of the the Dauntless faction and one of the men responsible for administering the brutal initiation tests that heroine Tris and other aspiring faction members have to go through. Ashley Judd has been cast in the role of Natalie Prior, the mother of Tris and her brother, Caleb. Tony Goldwyn will play Andrew Prior, the Abnegation-loyal father of Tris and Caleb
