Nicolas Cage is Grug, the patriarch of a family pushed out of its home by an earthquake. Keener will voice Ugga, the mother of the Crood clan and Stone will voice their daughter Eep.
Ryan Reynolds plays Gy, a nomad who introduces them to the concept of “tomorrow” and catches the romantic interest of Eep.
Chris Sanders (“How To Train Your Dragon”) and Kirk DeMicco (“Space Chimps”) are directing and penned the script based on an earlier screenplay DeMicco developed with John Cleese.
The film has been scheduled for a March 30th 2012 release. Kristine Belson and Jane Hartwell are producing the picKeener and Jane Fonda have joined the cast of Bruce Beresford's generational indie drama Peace, Love, and Misunderstanding says Reuters.
Christina Mengert and Joseph Muszynski's script centers on a conservative lawyer (Keener) who takes her son and daughter to the house of their estranged, hippie grandmother (Fonda) in Woodstock after her husband leaves her. They each find love in unexpected places.
Beresford ("Driving Miss Daisy," "Mao's Last Dancer") was also recently attached to helm the Ada Lovelace biopic "Enchantress of Numbers ".
This will be Fonda's first film project since 2007's "Georgia Rule".
Filming kicks off this July in New York's Hudson River Valley.
