EUE / Screen Gems landed the rights to film a drama based on the recent Hostage situation in Columbia says Variety.
"Operation Checkmate" will deal with their infiltration of the intelligence network of the revolutionaries to free Íngrid Betancourt (pictured) and fourteen others.
The final 22 minutes of the film will be in real time, depicting the dramatic release as the rescuers tricked the kidnappers into thinking they were a humanitarian group.
Simon Brand is in negotiations to direct.
