Carl Ellsworth has been hired to write the remake of the 1984 thriller"Red Dawn" according to The Hollywood Reporter.
John Milius-directed the original flick which dealt with a World War III invasion of America by the Soviets and Cubans, and followed a group of Midwestern teenagers who take on their high school mascot name -- "Wolverines!" -- as a rallying cry of resistance.
The new version will be updated to post September 11, 2001. Second unit director Dan Bradley graduates to helm his first feature.
Ellsworth makes for a great choice here. Both Red Eye and Disturbia were helped along by his tight scripting... This action thriller should too.
